F VISA (STUDENT VISA)An F-1 visa falls under the category of visa which is mainly for students in elementary schools to students in post doctoral studies. As long ad F-1 students are bona fide non immigrants, they can pursue their academic goals in the U.S without regard to the availability of a similar training in their country. They are also allowed to engage in a specific period of practical training after completion of their studies as long as the training would not be available in their country. The foreign student is allowed to stay in the U.S for as long as the period of training may require and in addition of a 60 day grace period. A foreigner seeking to enter the U.S to study needs to obtain a certificate of eligibility from the academic institution at which he or she will enroll and submit this certificate together with a nonimmigrant visa application and supporting documentation to a U.S consulate in the alien’s home country. Immediately after the visa is issued, the student can apply at the border for admission to the U.S.Foreign students must be enrolled in a full time course of studies and must show that they have a means of support to cover their expenses through out their stay of training in the U.S. there is a limitation placed on the employment opportunities granted to these students.
