Construction Site Fall Accidents

THE THREAT OF SERIOUS INJURY IS PREVALENT WHEN PEOPLE FALL AT CONSTRUCTION SITES

Construction sites are inherently dangerous to those people who work there. There are many things that can take place which could cause serious injury at these sites. Often time construction workers will be injured when they fall down, or fall from a higher elevation due to intervening forces.

The harsh reality is demonstrated in the statistics which tell us that there are over a thousand people a year killed on construction sites. Nearly three hundred of those deaths are attributed to workers falling at constructions sites. The ways in which falls can occur at construction sites include:

  • Falls into Holes
  • Falls from Roofs
  • Falls through Roofs
  • Falls off Scaffolding
  • Falls off Ladders
  • Falls from Windows
  • Falls from Hoists / Harnesses
  • Falls from Mechanical Lifts

The construction accident attorneys at Madalon Law know how to handle every type of personal injury claim, including those from construction site falls. If you have suffered an injury due to a fall at a construction site, contact us and we will gladly go over your case with you at no cost.

WHAT MAY CAUSE FALLS AT CONSTRUCTION SITES

A variety of things can cause a person to fall at a construction site. For the most part, these sites are infested with scraps and undulated grounds, as well as construction equipment everywhere. With as many things that line the area of a construction site, many may feel that these types of fall accidents should probably occur more frequently.

Openings in the ground and wall gaps which are left unmarked can create a situation where a construction worker is unaware of the hazard. Items left in areas where they are not commonly found or are known to be can cause a person to trip and fall. Certain equipment, such as scaffolding or hoist buckets, that are not properly maintained can become unsafe and allow a construction worker to fall from great heights.

When there is material that is exposed, such as wiring, metal-rebar, or anything that could be undetected by a person, serious injury can result. In addition to a person being injured by falling at a construction site, there can be catastrophic injury that comes from objects that fall and land on people as well. If you were injured because you fell or something fell on you while at a construction site, you need to speak with an attorney immediately.
