LYFT ACCIDENT ATTORNEYS
The Lyft Accident Attorneys of Madalon Law understand that Lyft car accidents are different than other car accidents. As companies like Lyft and Uber continue to grow, it only makes sense that Lyft and Uber car accidents are becoming more common.
Lyft drivers often believe that they don’t need a lawyer because Lyft will protect them. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
ABOUT LYFT
Created in 2007, Zimride is a ride-sharing service that focused on lengthy rides. It used the Facebook Connect application to connect passengers and drivers. Zimride continued to grow until it became the largest ride-sharing service in the nation.
Created by John Zimmer and Logan Green, the founders of Zimride, Lyft was introduced in 2012. Lyft began as an on-demand ride-sharing service for shorter trips. Like Zimride, the app connects drivers with people needing rides. Drivers and passengers are both able to rate each other with a five-star scale rating system.
LYFT DRIVER CHALLENGES
Any driver can have an accident, But Lyft drivers face a different set of challenges that make them particularly prone to accidents.
Lyft drivers, both part-time and full-time, work for many hours a day, often late into the night, and travel regularly to areas they may not be that familiar with, all with the additional pressure of getting from point A to point B in a timely manner, as well as, making sure customers are satisfied. All these factors combine to create a difficult and often dangerous driving environment.
Lyft drivers often encounter difficulties after an accident because they usually have little knowledge of the necessary steps to be taken to receive adequate compensation. Same goes for passengers or anyone else involved in a Lyft car accident and were injured.
TYPES OF LYFT CAR ACCIDENTS
- A car accident caused by Lyft driver
- Motorcycle accident due to Lyft driver
- Lyft driver bicycle accident
- Pedestrian hit by Lyft driver
- Lyft driver injured due to other driver’s negligence
- Lyft passenger injury
LYFT ACCIDENT PASSENGERS
An injured Lyft passenger, with rare exception, is never at fault in an accident. The one exception would be if the passenger became disruptive or violent to the point of causing the car accident (an intoxicated passenger disrupting the driver and causing them to hit another vehicle or object). That aside, Lyft passengers who are injured in a traffic accident cannot be considered guilty. The accident could be the fault of the Lyft passenger’s Lyft driver. Lyft drivers must pay attention to the rules of the road like any other driver.
Then there are the times that the Lyft driver is involved in an accident that was caused by the other driver. Either way, regular insurance is not sufficient for a Lyft accident.
LYFT PROVIDES $1 MILLION IN LIABILITY COVERAGE
Uber and Lyft both provide $1 million of liability insurance, but you should hire an attorney to make sure you are getting the actual compensation you deserve.
